The Charitable Christian Medical Clinic (CCMC) of Hot Springs sponsored the “Bridges out of Poverty” workshop at the Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs, Arkansas on Friday, June 6th (1PM-4PM) and Saturday,June 7th (8:30AM– 3:30 PM).
The seminar is designed to help those in “front-line” helping professions (education, health care, law enforcement, social services, etc.) working with individuals and families caught up in chronic poverty. The focus is to help attendees on a personal and organizational level to better understand and interact with the impoverished people in our communities who feel they have little hope of escape.
The Featured Speaker was be Terie Dreussi Smith, M.A. Ed.
In addition to co-authoring the book, Bridges out of Poverty, She presents nearly 100 Bridges Out of Poverty seminars annually. Ms. Dreussi-Smith has many years of experience implementing the public health model to promote health and wellness initiatives in her role as an addictions prevention specialist, program manager, and community consultant. Dreussi-Smith of Taylors, South Carolina, has served as supervisor of Prevention Services at a community alcohol/ other drug treatment and prevention organization for more than 9 years. She was instrumental in the organization’s redesign of programs and services for prevention and early intervention with clients from generational poverty.
