Margaret Bushong, RN, APRN

Long-term CCMC volunteer, Margaret Bushong , RN, APRN passed away January 6, 2016  in her son’s home in Dallas, TX where she relocated from Hot Springs, AR last year to be near him, as her illness progressed. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Ivan Lopes (who died December 7, 2012). She is survived by her son Mark & his wife Debra. She had worked for several years in the Home Based Primary Care program of the Veterans Administration– based out of Hot Springs. Additionally, she volunteered for many years with the Cooperative Christian Ministries & Clinic. She was an advocate for providing women with appropriate care and education. To that end, she served for many years with CCMC as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner/APRN.

The accompanying photo (taken a few years ago at the CCMC) is of the Women’s Health Care Team. Margaret Bushong is on the left. Next to her is Carolyn Stokes, clerk, then Pam Howlett, RN, APRN and Heather Henry, RN. (An aside, these other ladies continue to serve low-income women lacking health insurance coverage in the CCMC Women’s Health Clinic, monthly).


  There is a planed (informal) memorial to be held in Dallas, TX at her son’s home — 2723 Duval Dr. Dallas, 75212.on Saturday, January 16th at 1 P.M. Call for more info: 813-300-7775.
